Retirement
The corpus that funds your actual expenses — inflated to the day you retire, and indexed every year after it.
Expenses of ₹60,000 today become ₹2.58L a month by 60.
Usually lower — a retiree holds less equity.
The corpus is the present value, at retirement, of an income that rises with inflation for the whole of retirement, discounted at the post-retirement return. A common shortcut — monthly expense × 12 × years — ignores both the returns the corpus keeps earning and the inflation that keeps running, and overstates the number by roughly half. Illustrations only — they assume a steady rate of return, which no market delivers. Actual returns will differ. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read all scheme-related documents carefully.
