SIF
The tier SEBI created between mutual funds and PMS — room for long-short and concentrated strategies, with mutual-fund style reporting and oversight.
What it is
A Specialised Investment Fund is a pooled vehicle that can do things a mutual fund cannot — take short positions, concentrate holdings, or run a sector mandate with far fewer constraints. It sits inside the mutual-fund regulatory perimeter, so disclosure and custody standards are the ones you are already used to.
Who it suits
Investors who have outgrown plain mutual funds and want strategies that can profit when markets fall, but who are not yet at PMS or AIF ticket sizes — and who would rather keep the reporting discipline of a regulated pooled fund.
We place SIF through a shortlist of managers we have met, whose mandates and drawdown history we have checked ourselves. Because these are not publicly-screenable products, we discuss the shortlist with you directly rather than publishing a league table.
Ask for the shortlist- Long-short strategies can lose money in rising markets — that is the trade for downside protection.
- The ₹10 lakh floor applies across your SIF holdings, not per strategy.
- Redemption windows vary by strategy; check before you need the money.
- Taxation follows the strategy’s underlying holdings, not a single blanket rule.
SIF is a conversation, not a checkout.
We will walk through suitability, lock-ins, fees and taxation before anything is placed.
